BUGS Volunteers S-Gallery visiting
BUGS volunteers visited S-Gallery with their family and friends. Established by the Institute of Bioresource and Agriculture (IBA), S-Gallery promotes agriculture, indigenous bio-resources and biodiversity to the general public, and educate them on how to achieve sustainable living. S-Gallery is furnished with up-to-date multi-media technology; such as 4D, AR and VR motion sensing. Visitors immersed in the interactive learning environment can acquire knowledge related to organic agriculture, mixed agriculture, sustainable consumption, carbon footprints, biodiversity and ecosystems. Besides, volunteers also participated in an upcycling workshop. They learnt how to upcycle and transform red packets into bookmarks using seeds as decoration.
Institute of Bioresource and Agriculture also
provides solution to enhance farmland productivity. Every
piece of land has its own unique nutrition level, advices are given on precise fertiliser
application. Therefore, improving the efficiency of the farmland and subsequently
leading to reduced carbon emission in long-term. In addition, there are plenty
of scientific research that supports the development of local agriculture. Topics
covered ranging from transforming compost from organic food waste, to producing pesticides with Chinese medicinal herbal residues, breeding
tolerant plant species, and organic agricultural management etc.
