Three Sustainability Targets

In response to the Paris Agreement, Climate Action Plan and the waste reduction target laid out by the HKSAR Government in addressing global and local environmental issues, we are committed to achieve the following targets by 2020-21:


Waste disposal: Reduction of 20%  in waste sent to landfills
  • Orgainse No Disposables Campaign (e.g. the first No Straw University in Hong Kong, Say No to Plastic-bottled Water Campaign) to minimise single-use disposables wastes
  • Food waste separation at on-campus catering outlets for recycling at Organic Resources Recovery Centre Phase 1 at Siu Ho Wan in mid 2018
  • Construction of Zero Waste Zone at Ho Sin Hang Campus, a centralised site for waste separation and recycling
Carbon emissions: Reduction of 20% in total greenhouse gases (GHG)
  • Continue to upgrade hardware efficiency including:
    • Capital work (ensure compliance of the latest sustainable building design guidelines for subsequent campus expansion projects such as BEAM Plus)
    • Major renovation and retrofitting (incorporate green building features, to improve energy efficiency of existing facilities)
    • Upgrade key existing facilities and buildings to improve energy efficiency
  • Induce behavior change towards sustainability through community engagement (enhance awareness on environmental sustainability through education, promotional campaigns and engagement activities)
Water consumption: Reduction of 2% in total water consumption
  • Continue to upgrade hardware to achieve water efficiency & recycling and reuse
