Start separating and recycling food waste today
The HKSAR Government is facing a challenge with waste management, the landfills in Hong Kong will be saturated by 2020. While incinerators, composting plant and other waste treatment facilities can reduce wasteloads, rethinking of solution to waste problem in long-run is inevitable.
To support the Government's goal on reducing municipal waste by diverting food waste from landfills, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is implementing a comprehensive food waste separation and recycling programme. Pre-consumption and post-consumption food waste will be separated and sent to the Organic Resources Recovery Centre (Phase 1) for compost generation and biogas recovery.
Practice proper food waste separation today to make HKBU and Hong Kong more sustainable!
